Second Chances Book-Blogger Tag

Hey guys! 🙂 Hope you’re all doing well. I was tagged awhile ago with the Second Chances Book Blogger Tag. So, here’s my answers! Enjoy!

Name a book you expected to dislike but ended up loving because you stuck with it to the end.
bookThe Lost Pearle. As an old book it starts out kinda slow and with the main character having absolutely no brain and doing what everyone knows is the WRONG choice. But in the end that choice is why the book exists so… It’s definitely one of my favorites now.

Admit it–we all judge books by their covers. What is one book you’ve given a try and enjoyed despite a less-than-appealing cover?

(easiest answer ever)

codfishbook3 (2)
Johnny Tremain, EITHER of the two most known covers. I don’t even have to defend my reasons on this book. He looks like a codfish on one and a baked potato on the other.

book2Either that or Sir Kendrick and the Castle of Bel Lione. I don’t usually have books from that time period on my favorites list and it’s gray faceless knight on a gray horse in front of a square gray castle didn’t pull me in at all. But that’s definitely one if my favorite books.

Ranting opportunity! Which author are you forever mad at for denying a character their second chance? Talk about it.

RIP Paul Willis. [spoiler removed] is dead. forever and ever amen. And you are next.

crossroadsP.S. Good book. Go read it. Crossroads. 👈You’re welcome.😀

Do you have a favorite book that includes a theme of second chances?

The Book Thief, especially the second chance they gave Rudy.
yellowboy1Wait, what?!
*distant weeping*

Okay for real…The White Gypsy. A good book! (and leather bound) 😉

Bonus question: Name a favorite fictional romance that only succeeded because the characters were willing to let go of their first impressions and move on.

scarletPThe Scarlet Pimpernel, she let go of thinking he was a wimp and he let go of thinking she was brainless. And….TaDa!!! Happily ever after!! (and ok, it’s not the best cover out there but you get over it quite quickly).

Those are the questions and my answers! Now it’s tagging time!

  3. “A Lost Pearle” is one of my favorites, as well! Though I would agree with you. When she made that decision, I was like: “Seriously?!” But of course, that single decision set up the plot for the rest of the book so….*sighs*

    I enjoyed reading your answers!
